Service Design Research
Research into the development of Service Design as a discipline

Since my PhD in Service Design I have been interested in the development and consolidation of Service Design as a discipline, with a focus on academic research. This interest in Service Design Research has been particularly important when few scholars were investigating this field and the small scientific community needed to build solid foundations. My initial perspective has been influenced by research into the relational nature of services by Elena Pacenti (Domus Academy) and her interpretation of service design as the design of interactions and performances. I wrote and described how this focus on interactions has evolved taking in considerations a wider definition of "Interaction Design" that resembles the one of Richard Buchanan. Service Design is now designing interactions within and in between organisations and communities and working with companies on a more strategic level. My interest in Service Design Research has developed in the launch of the Service Design Research blog with Nicola Morelli, Anna Meroni and Stefano Maffei. Last effort has been the publication of "Design for Services" book with Anna Meroni and many other contributors that has provided a first map of the discipline as it appears today, with no intention to freeze it, but to create a debatable representation.... more to come!
